I entered my second tournament yesterday, so I am still a beginner.

It was a $230. Buy in. With 159 players.  With 10,000 beginning chips.

After 3 hours of play there were 50 players left playing and blinds were up to $600, $1,200 with $200 ante with average stack size of 30,000 chips.

Pre-flop bidding:   I was in cut off position with about $50,000 in chips and got pocket QQ.     Under the gun position had about $17,000 in chips and went All-in.    So I thought it was a pretty easy decision to call, so I did.   Then small blind ( tight aggressive) with $45,000 chips snap raises to all in.   So I still was happy to have pocket queens and thought I was already almost halfway down the road from already calling $17,000 so I decided to call an additional $28,000.  So I only had about $5,000. of chips left after calling.

Since both other players were all in, we all turned over our cards.  The original raiser in under the gun position had JJ. But the small blind position who also went all in when I called, had KK.  I knew I was dominated when I saw the pocket kings.   Of course all 5 community cards came and the pocket kings won.  I lost 95% of my chips in one hand.

I am not sure if I had made the right decisions.  Of course if I knew one player had kings, I would have folded.

My second guessing my decisions are:

1. Since I forgot to even consider the players behind me when I made the original call of $17,000., should I have gone all in at that time to ( to try)discourage having a show down with three players?

2. Should I have folded to the small blind who three bet All-In, after one All-In and a large call?

3. Did I do the right thing because pocket queens are are darn good hand and pocket aces and pocket kings are the only two possible hands that would be stronger and are not very common?

4. Any other advice or thoughts?

Isildur nagy blöffölése! A legnagyobb pot 98 000$-t ért Isildur1asztalainál, és Sauce123 ellen bukta el.  lapokkal próbálta blöfföl a -t tartó Sauce123 ellen egy

Anti-bad beats, or good beats :) This is a funny hand was played long ago, when I played  NL4. By the way, played on Betmost!

UTG $9.07
UTG+1 $4.04
Hero $5.10
BTN $5.39
SB $0.93
BB $8.79

Pre-Flop ($0.06, 6 players) Hero is CO

Three of clubsThree of spades

UTG calls $0.04, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.04, BTN raises to $0.16, 1 fold, BB calls $0.12, UTG calls $0.12, Hero calls $0.12

(now I always do 3bet with any pocket pairs. Set is good, but not in the multiway pot Smile)

Flop ($0.66, 4 players)

Nine of heartsTen of diamondsThree of hearts

BB checks, UTG bets $0.04, Hero raises to $0.39, BTN calls $0.39, BB calls $0.39, UTG calls $0.35

(I have set, but board is not good - there are possible any straight and flush draw. Donk-reraise is normally, I think, but I must do a rereaise about the pot, minimum 50-55 cents...otherwise I give too many chances for different draw)

Turn ($2.22, 4 players)

Eight of spades

BB checks, UTG bets $8.52, Hero goes all-in $4.55, BTN goes all-in $4.84, BB goes all-in $8.24

(The situation became even more worse. But in the NL4 I could not lose my card Laughing, although even then I saw that either the opponent a straight, or a higher set.)

River ($28.09, 4 players, 3 all-in)

Three of diamonds  Apotheosis!

 Final Pot: $28.09

BB shows Eight of diamondsEight of clubs

UTG shows Queen of heartsJack of spades

Hero shows Three of clubsThree of spades

BTN shows Queen of diamondsJack of clubs

Hero wins $19.42 (net +$14.32)
BB collects $7.67 (net -$1.12)
UTG collects $0.28 (net -$8.79)
BTN lost $5.39

Straight, straight, fullhouse and quad Innocent !

My quad Money mouth Wink

Poker Teacher wanted Wanted someone to teach me how to play poker in its modern age.  I know the basics but I just can't win.  For example I get KK and lose to 9 4 offsuit allin pre-flop.  I lose with QQ to A 6 suited all in on flop with 10 high board no flush draw.  Also I flopped flush from bb in unraised pot and lose runner runner full house. And on top of that I hit full house with 1010, flop comes 10,3,3 two other people in hand, I bet big as a move, the big stack who has me covered by a small margin goes all in.  One guess what happened.  If you guessed pocket threes you are wrong and should get your own poker teacher.  If however you guessed runner runner you would be right, and you can submit your poker resume here.

Should be noted that these examples have happened in tournament and not at the cash tables, so if you are interested please show your tournament skills.

MORONS Man I swear I don't even know why I bother.  Play patient solid game only to get donked off by someone  with an utterly ridiculous hand.

Guy limps in utg +1, he is a rabid f***ing donkey, then there is another limper from mid 2 or so. Me in the small blind get KK, so bump it 5*bb call and call.  The flop was K 8 4 rainbow.  I bet big because I know the donk will call with any piece and the other will 95% fold.  To my surprise, the donk ship me in.  Now I know that in most cases this is fantastic, but the first thought through my head was 'great how am I going to lose this one', then muscle memory took over and I clicked call and licked my chops.  His hand turned over to show  9,5 of clubs, and yes there was one club on that rainbow flop.  Once I saw the hand I had a quick chuckle and then saw a club on the turn and had that panic thought, ' oh no, not runner runner.'  And then the river which as you already know brought the club and the end of my game and story and me muttering

"FFS, F***ing MORONS"

Until next time

Just one of those days Well tonight I decided to play a bunch of the NAPL Rookie freerolls on Stars.  What an exercise in futility.  For those who don't know they are 36 person shootouts, so they are 6 tables of 6 people, you win you play the other 5 winners and the winner gets a ticket to the NAPL rookie tournament.  The mess started yesterday and continued on through today.

Situations where I was  80/20 to win I won 0.  I lost aces to king, kings to nines you get the idea.  I'm sure it wasn't actually 0 times I won but I lost more than Iwon when way in front.  I won't even start on times where I lost to Ax when holding pairs.  I was playing, if not my best, damn near it.

I know I shouldn't take it too serious, they are freerolls into an $0.11 tournament but the league games are for points and cash and then bonus cash for the top 50 point getters of the week.  So what are some of the ways you all keep from going on tilt and losing it.
